shingo's birthday games gathering

So yesterday was my 32nd birthday, and what did I do?

I had a gaming party at my house, organized by my lovely wife Amelia. The whole thing started at about 1 and slowly more and more people came and in the end, it was a great turn out, and I think everyone had wonderful time.

We started off the day with now traditional Shingo's birthday game Jenga.. which I received last year. We played one game and quickly it was taken over by babies.

We then started quick game of For Sale.. with Matthew, Sam, Arman, Kurt, Santana and Maarten. We played for few games, and it was Maarten's first game but I think he enjoyed it.

Then same group started next game of 6 people Tichu. It was Maarten, Santana and Arman against Sam, Kurt and myself. Quite unfair considering that it was Maarten's first time and long time since Arman played.




Game went well though, with few changes of people along the way.. Roger joined to take over Maarten's and Shar took over Santana's place.. it was actually quite one sided match with our team reaching 1000 points while the other was somewhere in around 100. Anyway it was good match and there were many highlights and fun moment during the game..







Meanwhile Saba and Richard had tough battle with Backgammon.. not sure who won in the end but from the look of their faces... Saba must be playing well.

All of us came together and had few round of massive game of Saboteur, nice quick game of dwarves searching for gold. We had Kurt, Roger, Richard, Minoo, Lucas, Sam, Martijn, Joey and myself.. with highlights for me was when we successfully sabotaged their mission when there were only me and Richard as a saboteur. We played brilliantly on that one, and we had each other covered very well. We played few times as it was nice and quick, but provided many interesting situations. Sam came to join us for the last round and ended up being 4th or 5th.. That was a good effort too.

We played quick game of Bluff, where I tried for the perfect game that I've done previously.. with little bit of Swee's help, I won by 3 dices.. so close to the perfect game. I enjoy Bluff more and more as I play.. and few times I made correct call that made everyone lost dices.





We had yummy Banana cake made by Faraz and and enjoyed Pizza and Lasagna for dinner.
After dinner we tried new card game of Take 6, it is a quick card game that takes up to 10 people... It was fun and quick game for us..

After many people had to leave, Santana, Joey, Roger and I got together to try new game I got for my birthday called Ingenious. It is an abstract tile laying game where you have to score in 6 different colours. We played the team play version of the game, where I and Joey teamed up against Santana and Roger. Both teams quickly gathered many points in one or two areas but not getting much in 2 other colours.

We played few rules wrong but in the end, Joey and I couldn't get enough Yellow point and cost us a game. They played well though completely shut us down with gaining more yellow points.

After Ingenious we were in the mood for another game, so we decided to play a game of Samurai.. a game I received at my last year's birthday.

All in all it was very very good day and it was nice to get together with so many people, able to forget that we are living in the country under attack.. and enjoy bit of gaming and most importantly each other's company.
